The Christian Klaiber lecture is dedicated to Dr. Christian Klaiber MD (1942-2013), a Swiss Surgeon and past chairman of the surgical department at the Hospital of Aarberg. He was an important Swiss Pioneer of laparoscopic surgery techniques and performed the first laparoscopic cholecystectomy in Switzerland in 1989. With others he was most important that laparoscopic surgery has gained such a broad interest in our country! Nowadays, most abdominal operations are performed by the laparoscopic technique!
